Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni announced the results at a press briefing at the secretariat.
“A total of 2,287,271 students came out successful in the JSC and JDC examinations this year which is 56,442 more than 2018. Besides, 78,429 students obtained GPA-5 while the number was 68,095 in the previous year,” the minister said.
Cent percent students came out successful in 5,243 educational institutions this time which is 874 more than the previous year. No one from 33 institutions could pass the exams while the number was 43 last year.
According to the statistics of nine general education boards, 2,221,591 students sat for the JSC examination this year compared to 2,216,961 in 2018. Of them, 1,945,718 passed the examination, an increase by 4,630 from last year. The pass rate is 87.58 percent this time compared to 85.28 percent in 2018.
Highest GPA-5 grade was attained by 76,747 students, an increase by 10,639 from the previous year.
According to the madrasa board, 380,442 students appeared at the JDC examination and 341,553 of them came out successful. The pass rate is 89.77 percent showing a slight increase by 0.73 percent compared to 2018. A total of 1,682 students attained GPA-5 in JDC examination this year.
A total of 1,040,742 boys and 1,246,529 girls passed the JSC examination this year.
