“Following the initiative taken by the Ministry, harvesting of boro paddy in the haor areas has been completed successfully while the harvesting of paddy in other parts of the country will be completed by June,” he said at an online meeting over the current situation of boro harvesting.
Mentioning that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has urged to cultivate crops on every inch of the land, Razzaque, said “Already necessary steps have been taken in this regard and it will be implemented soon.”
This year, some 4,45,399 hectares of land have been brought under boro cultivation in the haor areas and harvesting paddy from4,39,000 hectares of land have been completed which is 99 percent of the total cultivation, he said.
Besides, farmers have brought 47,54,447 hectares of land under boro cultivation and harvesting of 18,18,000 hectares of land have been completed across the country, he added.

Some 55,70,361 workers were involved in harvesting paddy in the 14 agricultural regions including Dhaka, Mymensingh, Cumilla, Sylhet, Chattogram, Rangamati, Rajshahi, Bagura, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Jashore, Khulna, Barishal and Faridpur districts, said the Minister.

The authorities concerned have taken initiative to send workers from one district to another after maintaining necessary health guidelines, he said adding that 1,497 combine harvester and 2,455 reaper machines are being used for harvesting paddy across the country.
