The government appointed Barrister Md Abdus Salam, an advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, as Chairman of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society for a three-year term.
At the same time, the government formed a 14-member ad hoc managing board to ensure the smooth functioning of the organisation's administrative activities.
The Private Health Management-2 Branch of the Health Services Division under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued two separate notifications regarding this on Saturday.
Dr Omar Farooq Mirza has been appointed Chairman of the board, while Dr Abu Md Mosharraf Hossain (Roka) has been named Vice-Chairman.
The members of the board are Professor Dr Sheikh Mohiur Rahman Sabik, Professor Dr Mohd Shahidur Rahman, Faruk Uddin Bhuiyan, Barrister Rafiqul Islam Sikder (Rafiq Sikder), Dr Karbi Sultana, Advocate Zakaria, Dr Shah Mohammad Sarwar Alam, Dr Jalil Ahmed, Kazi Mohammad Masudur Rahman, Imam Mohammad Mohsin Chowdhury, Professor Dr Sheikh Mohammad Salam and SM Mahbubul Islam Sajal.
The notification further stated that the tenure of the members of the managing board will be three years from the date of issuance.
