The High Court on Tuesday refused to grant anticipatory bail to two accused in a case filed over the murder of an Awami League politician and a female college student who were killed in the Shahjahanpur area last year.
The HC bench consisting of Justice Md Kamrul Hossain Molla and Justice Khandokar Diliruzzaman passed the order after the bail petition was placed by the lawyer of the two accused.

Deputy Attorney General Imran Ahmed Bhuiyan stood for the state.
The two accused are Md Sohel and Shamsul Haider Ujjal.
The Detective Branch of police submitted a charge sheet against 33 people on June 5, said Yasin Shikdar, investigation officer of the case.
Primarily, the charge sheet was prepared against 34 people, but an accused named ‘Xl Sohel’ was excluded, he said.

15 June has been fixed for the next hearing date.
On the night of March 24, 2022, AL politician Zahidul Islam Tipu, who was on a microbus, and Samia Afrin Priti, a 22-year-old college student, who was returning home on a rickshaw, were killed in firing in front of Islami Bank Hospital.
Tipu was a former general secretary of the AL Motijheel committee and Priti was a student of Begum Badrunnesa Government College. Tipu’s driver was also injured in the firing.
They were all stuck in a traffic jam in the area when a biker wearing a helmet and a mask appeared from nowhere and fired at them.

The three sustained bullet injuries and were soon rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, where Zahidul and the student died of their injuries hours later.
The next day, a case was filed against unidentified people over the double murder.
