Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Tuesday said their party will participate in the city corporation elections, no matter whether electronic voting machines (EVMs) are used or not.
He came up with the remarks while talking to reporters after inaugurating a plaque of yearlong programmes to celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and distributing blankets among cold-hit people at Basurhat in Companiganj upazila.
Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said the country’s development that took place in the last 11 years is now visible to people. “The trend of progress will continue.”
BNP is against the use of EVMs in the upcoming elections to Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) billed for January 30 as it termed the system an ‘ill-motivated government project’ to destroy people’s voting rights.
