One more member of Bangladesh Police died from coronavirus at Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Raju Ahmed, an inspector of the Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
Md Sohel Rana, Assistant Inspector General (AIG-Media) of the Police headquarters, said Raju , hailing from Chandpur, breathed his last at 10:40 while undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed expressed deep shock and sorrow at his death, he added.
Bangladesh witnessed another surge in Covid-19 patients with the detection of 1,532 new patients on Sunday that took the number of confirmed cases in the country to 31,737.
At the same time, 28 people died from coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 480.
