They also sought initiatives to bring down bank interest rate to a single digit for all garment factories with immediate effect.
The proposals were placed at a pre-budget discussion jointly arranged by the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) at a city hotel.
BGMEA President Dr Rubana Huq, first vice president Mohammed Abdus Salam, senior vice president Faisal Samad, BTMA President Mohammad Ali Khokon, BKMEA first vice president Mansoor Ahmed and first vice president of Exporters Association of Bangladesh (EAB) Mohammad Hatem were, among others, present.
They also demanded allocation of required fund for adopting advanced technology in the garment industry.
The apparel makers also demanded unchanged source tax rate on export proceeds for businesses which is now 0.25 percent.
They also called for fixing corporate tax rate at 10 percent instead of 12 percent.
