Airport Armed Police (AAP) arrested one man with 3,000 pieces of Yaba pills at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday.
The arrestee was identified as Farid Mia, 38, a resident of Teknaf in Cox's Bazar.
He was arrested in front of a soft drink shop near the government parking area in front of the domestic terminal of the airport in the morning.

Mohammad Ziaul Haque, additional superintendent of police (SP) of the AAP Battalion working at the airport, said that based on secret information members of the intelligence team of the AAAP and an operational team of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) started surveillance in front of the domestic terminal of the airport since morning.
At one stage at around 10:00 am, Farid Mia was seen staying there and he was seen moving around restlessly and suspiciously. The intelligence team of the AAAP Battalion then detained him and brought him to their office at the airport.

At the beginning of the interrogation, the arrestee denied but at one point admitted that he was carrying Yaba pills. He was then searched and during the search he took out Yaba from a black-coloured bag with him.
A case has been filed against him under the Narcotics Control Act at the airport police station.
