An army soldier was injured during an attack by workers at the Chapail Bridge in Sadar Upazila, Gopalganj, over toll collection.
The injured soldier is CPL MD Sajjad Hossain of Dhaka Headquarters.
Five people were detained in connection with the incident, said Mir Mohammad Sajedur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station.

The detainees are Anwar, 65, Alaamin, 30, Shahin Bhuiyan, 21, Emon Sikder, 17, and Shimul, 27. They were taken into custody by joint forces and handed over to Gopalganj Sadar Police Station.
OC said that the army personnel were traveling from Naragati in Narail district to Dhaka in a pickup truck loaded with goods.
When they reached the bridge around 6 pm, an argument broke out with workers over toll payment. The situation escalated, and the workers attacked and assaulted the soldier.
Following the attack, a team from the army arrived at the scene, rescued the injured soldier, and detained the five workers.

The injured soldier’s father, Moniruzzaman, said at around 11:30 pm, "It is very sad that my son was attacked. After hearing about the incident, I went to Gopalganj Sadar Police Station to file a complaint. My son is currently receiving treatment, and legal steps are being taken."
