A Dhaka court on Wednesday issued arrest warrants against content creator Ashraful Alam, popularly known as Hero Alam, and his associate Ahsan Habib Selim in a case filed by Alam’s former wife accusing them of attempted murder, assault, and intimidation.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Wahiduzzaman issued the order following a petition filed by the plaintiff’s lawyer, Ziaur Rahman Chowdhury.
Ziaur Rahman said both accused had violated bail conditions and failed to appear in court. “That is why we requested the court to issue arrest warrants,” he added.
According to the case statement, after a marital dispute, Alam divorced his former wife Ria Moni and forced her out of his house several months ago.
On June 21, Ria and her family were called to a house in the Hatirjheel area to settle the matter, where Alam and 10 to 12 unidentified people allegedly verbally abused them.
Later, the accused reportedly entered Ria’s current residence unlawfully, attacked her with wooden sticks, and caused injuries.
During the assault, a 1.5 bhori gold chain was also snatched from her neck, the case document said.
Following the incident, Ria filed the case at Hatirjheel Police Station on June 23.
