Underworld top terror Sanjidul Islam Emon shot dead film star Sohel Chowdhury outside the now defunct Trumps Club of Banani over insulting businessman Aziz Mohammad Bhai in public at the club.
Asadul Islam alias Bunty Islam and arrested Ashish Roy Chowdhury alias Bottle Chowdhury planned to kill the actor in 1998.
The duo along Aziz Mohammad gave the task to Emon to finish Sohel.
It was revealed by Ashish, who was arrested by Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) from a house in Gulshan in the city on Tuesday night.
During primary interrogation under the Rab's custody, Ashis admitted his involvement in the killing, said Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director of the Legal and Media Wing of the (Rab) while briefing reporters at the Karwan Bazar Rab media centre in the city on Wednesday.

Quoting Ashis the Rab's media wing director said that the then contacted top terrorist Sanjidul Islam Emon, a regular visitor to the Trumps Club.
Then Bunty , Ashish and Aziz offered Emon to kill Sohel. Emon agreed to assassinate Sohel to further strengthen his relationship with them and Emon later carried out the assassination, said Rab spokesman.
On 24 July 1996, Sohel had an urgument with Aziz and at one stage a scuffle broke out. Aziz became very angry with Sohail, according to Rab interrogation.
On 9 December, 1998, actor Sohel Chowdhury was shot dead outside the now defunct Tramps Club, housed in Abedin Tower in Banani’s Road 17.
A murder case was filed in this regard at Gulshan police station followed by a complaint lodged by Sohel’s brother Towhidul Islam Chowdhury.
On 30 July, 1999, Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police submitted a charge sheet against nine people in this case.
On 30 October, 2001, Dhaka’s third additional metropolitan session judge court framed charges against the nine accused. After two years of indictment, the case was transferred to Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal.
