He bagged 21,824 votes while his nearest rival, BNP’s Haji Md Israil Mia, got 20,954 votes.
It is the second time Parvez has been elected mayor of the municipality.

Re-election to Wali Newaz Khan College centre was held on Saturday. Among the 1,852 voters at the centre, 1,448 cast vote. Parvez got 902 votes and Israil bagged 516.
Election to Kishoreganj municipality was held was Jan 16. Voting at this particular centre was suspended amid clashes among supporters of Awami League and BNP.

The final results were not announced. Tally from the other 27 centres showed Parvez bagging 20,922 votes and Israil 20,438, making the Newaz Khan College centre a vital one.
Meanwhile, the BNP candidate announced boycotted of the election alleging irregularities and occupying polling station.
