Air Commodore Md Zahidur Rahman will lead the team which will depart from Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram.
BAF C-130J aircraft has arrived in Chattogram on Thursday from the BAF Base Bangabandhu, Dhaka to depart for China.
Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat provided necessary guidance to carry out the mission, said an ISPR release on Thursday.
In compliance with the policies published by the government of Bangladesh, Armed Forces is conducting various activities under the directives of the Prime Minister to prevent coronavirus.
In line with this, they have adopted a plan to collect medical aids, including N-95 masks, surgical masks, elect thermometer, medical safety glasses, protective gloves, goggles and PPE, to strengthen the coronavirus prevention system of Bangladesh in response to the Chinese government's proposal.
A BAF transport aircraft left for China to serve the purpose of collecting medical aids from China. It is to note that Bangladesh Air Force is providing emergency aviation transportation and medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) support in aid to civil power under Armed Forces Division to prevent coronavirus.
For the outstanding efforts of China government in combating coronavirus and for their sincere support to various countries of the world, including Bangladesh, to prevent the spread of coronavirus, Bangladesh Armed Forces sent some souvenirs that bear the tradition of Bangladesh like handicraft items for the Armed Forces of China and other related support agencies as a sign of friendship.
It is also important to note that healthcare aids (PPE, masks and sanitizers etc) collected from China will be brought by the same aircraft to provide various entities engaged in combating coronavirus in Bangladesh under the initiative of the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce.
It is expected that BAF C-130J aircraft will return home on April 18 with the medical equipment.
