A 60-year-old banana trader was beaten to death at Kafuria Rifujipara village in Natore Sadar upazila this morning over “money a customer owed him.”
The deceased was identified as Kalam, 60, a resident of Kafuria Rifujipara village.

Kafuria UP Chairman Abul Kalam said Kalam sold bananas worth Tk 2 lakh to Kamal Uddin of Rifujipara village.
This morning, when Kalam went to ask for the money owed, an argument broke out between the two. At one stage, Kamal Uddin hit Kalam with a tree branch, leaving Kalam dead on the spot.
Kamal has been absconding since the incident, he added.

Jamal Uddin, Sub-Inspector of Natore Police Station, said necessary legal action is being taken in this regard.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue, he added.
