Bangladesh Ambassador to the Russian Federation Kamrul Ahsan held a meeting with the governor of Ivanovo, a Russian city northeast of Moscow, Voskresensky Stanislav Sergeevich.
The ambassador met the Ivanovo governor during his visit to the region from November 18 to November 21.
During the meeting, various issues of mutual interest, including economic and commercial, of the two countries were discussed, according to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

At the meeting, the envoy briefed the governor about the unprecedented development of Bangladesh in various fields under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the last one-and-a-half decades.
He stressed the need to open new areas of mutual cooperation to further enhance the existing economic and trade relations between the two countries.
Referring to the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant being constructed in Bangladesh with Russian cooperation, the ambassador hoped for more active participation of Russia in the construction of various infrastructure in Bangladesh.

The region of Ivanov is famous for the Russian garment industry and has many garment factories across the region.
The ambassador requested Governor Sergeevich to take steps and cooperate in recruiting skilled workers from Bangladesh in garment factories.
The issue of mutual cooperation in the field of education and culture between the two countries was discussed during the meeting.
Governor Sergeevich assured the ambassador that he would talk to the concerned quarters of the central government to strengthen the existing bilateral relations between the two countries and open new areas of cooperation.
He also pledged his full cooperation with Bangladesh in developing mutual relations with the Ivanovo region in trade, education, culture and other areas.
The meeting was also attended by First Secretary (Labour) of the Embassy Md. Majedur Rahman Sarker and directors of trade, investment, education, culture and tourism, labour affairs of the Regional Government of Ivanovo.
During his visit to the Ivanovo region, the ambassador met with Leonid Ivanov, president of the local Chamber of Commerce and Industries, and other members of the chamber.
During the meeting, discussions were held on how to enhance Bangladesh's trade relations with the Ivanovo region.
In order to increase mutual trade, the ambassador invited the businessmen of the region to showcase their products at the International Trade Fair of Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Kamrul said separate fairs or exhibitions can be organised in Dhaka on a large scale with only Russian products with the help of the Russian Embassy in Bangladesh.
The Bangladesh ambassador also met representatives of several universities of the region at Ivanovo State Polytechnic University to enhance cooperation relations in the field of education.
