World Egg Day 2026 is being observed in Bangladesh, as elsewhere across the globe, on Friday to raise awareness about the nutritional benefits of eggs.
The international theme for 2026 is “Protein That Powers and Protects,” highlighting the role of high-quality protein in eggs in supporting muscle growth, brain development, immune function and healthy ageing.
Marking the day, the Department of Livestock Services and the Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council have jointly undertaken initiatives to raise awareness about the nutritional value of eggs.
Under the theme “Nutrition in eggs, energy in eggs, and immunity from disease through eggs,” the programmes include awareness rallies, seminars and discussions at agricultural universities across the country.
On the occasion, a discussion was held at the Panchagarh Deputy Commissioner’s conference room in the morning
The event was jointly organised by the district administration and the District Livestock Department.
State Minister for Water Resources Forhad Hossain Azad attended the programme as the chief guest, with Deputy Commissioner Shukria Parvin in the chair.
Speakers highlighted the importance of eggs in meeting the nutritional needs of people of all ages, particularly children.
They also called for greater awareness of the benefits of regular egg consumption.
In Rajshahi, a rally was held and eggs were distributed free of charge to mark the day.
Rajshahi City Corporation Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton inaugurated the programme as the chief guest.
To mark the day, a rally set off from Saheb Bazar Zero Point in the morning, passing through Moni Chattar and Malopara before ending at Alkar Mor.
In 2026, World Egg Day marks its 30th anniversary, celebrating three decades of recognising the egg’s incredible nutritional value and versatility.
Since its beginnings in Vienna in 1996, egg lovers around the world have found creative ways to honour this nutrient powerhouse, and the global celebration continues to grow and evolve each year.
