Currently, goods and container transport through the railway has continued amid the transport shutdown to contain the spread of coronavirus, he said.
“We’ve decided to transport vegetables from marginal areas where rail connection is available and will contact with vegetable traders now,” the minister told UNB.
The service will be provided according to the demands of the traders, he added.

Railway Director General Shamsuzzaman said they currently have 30 luggage vans which would be used to carry vegetables.
The decision came as the supply chain of vegetable market was severely disrupted due to the general holiday aimed at preventing coronavirus transmission.
Meanwhile, coronavirus claimed eight more lives in the last 24 hours till Wednesday morning, taking the death toll in the country to 163.

Besides, a record number of 641 people tested positive during the period, raising the number of confirmed cases in the country to 7,103.
