Bangladesh and the Republic of Korea (ROK) have exchanged congratulatory letters from the respective Heads of government addressing each other to commemorate the 50th anniversary of establishing bilateral diplomatic relations today (18 December 2023) at the Foreign Ministry in Dhaka.

The event was held between the Director General (East Asia & Pacific) Toufique Hasan and the ROK Ambassador to Bangladesh Park Young-sik to hand over respective letters of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and President Yoon Suk Yeol.
In her letter, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed her felicitations and referred to the common values, mutual respect, and shared aspirations of the bilateral relations.
She acknowledged the invaluable contributions of the ROK as a development partner and referred to the enormous potentials of further cooperation and partnership for mutual benefit of the two countries.

President Yoon Suk Yeol referred to the long bilateral cooperation and partnership initiated in 1973 based on shared values, goals of democracy and economic development.
He mentioned the potentials of further cooperation and hoped to enhance the relations in the days ahead.
