A team of young robotics from Bangladesh secured the 3rd Place Trophy in the Senior BottleSumo category of the Robofest World Championship 2026 held in the United States.
Robofest is an international robotics competition hosted by Lawrence Technological University in Michigan, where students design, build, and programme autonomous robots to compete in different challenge-based categories.
The 27th Robofest World Championship was held on May 14-16, bringing together talented student teams from different parts of the world, according to a press release.
Representing Bangladesh, the team achieved an outstanding milestone by winning the 3rd Place Trophy in the Senior BottleSumo category.
A total of seven students were part of the Bangladesh team. Among them, six participating students were from International Hope School Bangladesh (IHSB), and one intern student was from a college in Sylhet. The entire team was trained, mentored, and groomed by Robonauts Club.
Md Mansib Ahsan, Shayaan Sadid Zaman and Tang Tianxing Class-VII, Nasif Ashab Khan Jami (Class-VIII), Abdur Rahman Lahi (Class-XII), and Farhan Mustafa and Abrar Hasan (Class-IX) took part in the competition, while Md Moonzoor Morshed travelled as the coach.
During their stay in the United States, the students gained valuable exposure to an international robotics competition environment. They observed how teams from different countries prepared, tested, modified, and presented their robots.
They also learned how to manage pressure, solve technical problems within limited time, communicate as a team, and represent Bangladesh with confidence on a global platform, said the press release.
