Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCCI) President Mohd Khorshed Alam has highlighted the potential for Chinese technology and investment to support Bangladesh’s renewable energy and wider energy needs.
Speaking at a dialogue on Monday, he encouraged greater Chinese investment in Bangladesh while highlighting export opportunities for Bangladeshi home textiles, RMG, leather, seafood and light engineering products in the Chinese market.
The BCCCI hosted the Bangladesh-Yunnan Trade and Investment Dialogue in Dhaka, bringing together more than 30-member Chinese business delegation and Bangladeshi business stakeholders to explore new avenues for trade, investment and long-term cooperation.
The dialogue brought together businesses from logistics and supply chains, import-export, new energy, elevators, building technology, electrical equipment, aluminum, trading and retail, creating opportunities to connect businesses and identify areas for practical cooperation.
The discussion was moderated by Md. Abu Taher, Executive Director of BCCCI, facilitating an exchange between the two business communities on investment opportunities, market access and potential areas for cooperation.
In his welcome remarks, Khorshed Alam highlighted the longstanding Bangladesh-China economic relationship and the need to deepen two-way trade, said the trade body on Tuesday.
Deputy Director, Lancang-Mekong Subregional Economic Cooperation and Trade Development Center Liu Jie, introduced Yunnan’s “Three Frees and Three Facilitations” policy, which supports overseas businesses through free bonded warehousing, exhibition space and online marketplace access, alongside facilitation in logistics, customs clearance and transportation.
