A upazila unit activist of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of Awami League, died after being electrocuted in Ulipur upazila of Kurigram on Wednesday.
The deceased Raitul Islam Rony, 22, was son of Alam Badsha of Umananda Jagirpara area under Tabokpur union of the upazila.
He was involved with BCL politics at the upazila and completed his study from Rangpur Polytechnic Institute.

Police and his family members said Rony came into contact with a live electric wire while repairing a fan at home at noon.
The impact of the incident left him critically injured and rushed to Upazila Health Complex where physicians declared him dead upon arrival.
Ulipur police station’s Officer-in-charge Golam Mortuza confirmed the death of the BCL worker saying that an unnatural death case was lodged in this regard.

The body was handed over to the family without autopsy upon their request, the OC said.
Expressing grief at the death, Upazila chapter BCL General Secretary Moinul Rashid Noman prayed for the salvation of the departed soul of Rony.
