Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) has inaugurated two modern weighbridges at Dhaka EPZ to ensure transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the import and export activities of enterprises.
BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain inaugurated the facility on Monday (September 7), which features two weighbridges installed at the main gates of the old extension zones of Dhaka EPZ.
The new system enables accurate measurement and digital recording of the weight of goods transported by containers, covered vans, and other commercial vehicles entering and exiting the zones. It aims to strengthen monitoring, ensure proper utilization of imported raw materials, enforce bonded facility rules, maintain operational discipline, and safeguard government revenue.
Speaking at the event, officials noted that following Dhaka EPZ, similar weighbridges are being installed at Chattogram EPZ, Adamjee EPZ, Cumilla EPZ, and Karnaphuli EPZ, with plans to cover all BEPZA-run zones gradually.
Executive Director of Dhaka EPZ Mohammad Abdul Jabbar, Executive Director (Security) Lt Col Md Mohseen Hasan, Assistant Commissioner of Customs (Dhaka EPZ), and representatives from various EPZ enterprises were present at the inauguration.
