Dhaka, October 1 (UNB) – Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized smuggled goods and narcotics worth over Tk 41 crore from across the country in September.
The seized narcotics included 3,63,046 yaba pills, 33,177 bottles of phensedyl, 5,795 bottles foreign liquor, 167 liters of local liquor, 555 cans of beer, 532kg hemp, 1.25kg heroin.
Other seized contraband items are 1.82kg gold, 9kg silver, 9,051 pieces of imitation jewellery, 51,940 pieces of cosmetics, 22,31 sarees, 940 pieces of three-piece, 1,470 readymade garments, three pieces brass idol, 9,245 cubic feet wood, 12,641kg tea, 14 trucks, four pickup vans, two private cars, 11 auto rickshaws and 47 motorcycles.
Apart from these, BGB recovered four rifles, a pistol and seven bullets.
BGB also took legal action against 244 people for smuggling and detained 84 Bangladeshis for crossing the border illegally.
