Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized arms, ammunition, drugs and other contraband items worth Tk 172.2 crore during anti-smuggling drives across the country, especially in bordering areas in the month of November.
During the period, the paramilitary force seized 8.570 kgs of gold, 16.79 kgs of silver, 2,90,900 cosmetics items, 7,661 imitations jewelry, 15,703 sarees, 22,840 three-piece/shirt-piece/bed-sheet/blankets, 29,529 meter unstitched fabric, 14,406 readymade garments, 15,689 cft timber, 6,828 kgs of tea leaves, 4,16,727 kgs of sugar, 5,713 kgs of fertilizer, 1,33,370 cubic feet coal, 720 cubic feet stones, 1000 cubic feet sand, 593 mobile displays, 36,223 glasses, 8,623 kgs fruits, 49,754 kgs of garlic, 22,916 kg of cumin, One touchstone statue, 10 trucks, seven pickups, six private cars/microbuses, seven trolleys, 162 boats, 50 CNG/easybikes, 78 motorcycles, 11 vans and 23 bicycles, a BGB media release signed by its Public Relations Officer Md Shariful Islam Monday.
The seized drugs and narcotics include 9, 66, 696 pieces of Yaba tablets, 1.25 kgs of crystal meth ice, 6. 737 kgs of heroin, 23,449 bottles of Phensidyl, 15,549 bottles of foreign liquor, 393 liters of Bengal liquor, 805 cans of beer, 1,309 kg of cannabis, 1, 25, 114 packets of cigarettes, 1,50,922 narcotic tablets/injections, 3,239 bottles of Iscaf syrup, 18.898 kgs of cocaine, 590 bottles of Mkdil/Cofidil, 11,45 ,098 different types of medicine, 14,436 Enegra/Senegra tablets, and 23 bottles of LSD, according to the release.
The seized weapons consist of six pistols, eight guns, one rifle, one revolver, seven cocktails, four magazines and 421 rounds of ammunition.

Meanwhile, legal action has been initiated against 209 alleged smugglers, 492 Bangladeshi nationals and 11 Indian citizens for illegally crossing the border during this period.
Besides, 2,597 Myanmar nationals have been repatriated following their detention, according to the press release.
