During the visit, the BGMEA delegation showed a keen interest in understanding how creative and efficient solutions like the Geocycle project can contribute to environmental sustainability within the garment and textile industry of Bangladesh.
The LafargeHolcim Surma Plant, situated in Chhatak, is a leading cement manufacturing facility in Bangladesh. The distinctive feature of its Geocycle project lies in its ability to dispose of a wide range of non-recyclable wastes by utilizing them in kilns and harnessing the resulting heat to produce cement.
The plant is actively involved in promoting recycling and responsible disposal of waste materials, thereby aligning with the principles of a circular economy.
BGMEA President Faruque Hassan highlighted the progress made by the Bangladesh RMG industry in terms of environmental sustainability, underscoring its dedication to the principles of a circular economy.
