The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has issued an important directive instructing its member factories not to respond to any communication from the Ready-Made Garments Sustainability Council (RSC) regarding the settlement of non-Occupational Safety and Health (Non-OSH) related complaints.
The BGMEA has specifically instructed factories to disregard any letters, circulars, or communications from the RSC concerning the non-OSH complaint mechanism.
The move comes after the RSC Managing Director recently sent a letter to factories outlining the process for resolving non-OSH (non-occupational safety and health) complaints.
In a statement released on the matter, the BGMEA clarified that the issue is currently under review. The BGMEA management is maintaining close communication with the RSC and is attempting to clarify the matter through constructive dialogue.
Awaiting Final Decision:
The BGMEA emphasized that the final decision regarding this matter will be announced following the upcoming meeting of the Ready-Made Garments Sustainability Council (RSC).
Until that meeting concludes, the BGMEA has directed all member factories to strictly refrain from answering any correspondence related to the non-OSH complaint system.

Major Md. Saiful Islam, PSC, CSCM (Ret.), Acting Secretary of the BGMEA, stated, "This instruction is consistent with policy and guidelines and will help ensure a coordinated approach. The cooperation of our members on this issue is critically important."
The RSC is a tripartite organization comprising representatives from brands, factory owners, and labor organizations. It oversees workplace safety and standard compliance activities in Bangladesh's ready-made garment industry.
