Dhaka, Sept 10 (UNB) - A bill titled ‘Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute Bill, 2018’ was placed in Parliament considering the importance of research on livestock to expedite the growth of livestock in the country.
Fisheries and Livestock Minister Narayan Chandra Chanda placed the Bill and it was sent to the respective parliamentary standing committee for further scrutiny. The committee was asked to submit its report within one week.
The proposed law will replace the ‘Livestock Research Institute Ordinance, 1984’ which has been scrapped by the High Court as this Ordinance was promulgated during the military regime.
As per the Bill, there will be a 14-member Board for the Institute. The Fisheries and Livestock Minister will be its Chairman.
The tenure of the board will be for three years.
