One of the injured, Milon Hossain, joint convener of Municipal Chhatra Dal, has been admitted to Singra Health Complex in critical condition. The other injured person was Daudar Mahmud, member secretary of BNP Singra Upazila and an ex candidate for MP.
Daudar said Awami League activists attacked the party's mayoral candidate Taizul Islam at noon when he went to make public campaign in Ninguin area of ward 7 of the municipality. Some journalists were attacked as well.

Taizul later lodged a complaint with the deputy commissioner of Natore superintendent of police in this regard.
Another mayoral candidate of BNP Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Dr Shahadat Hossain reportedly came under attack on 20th January evening at the metropolitan’s Bakolia neighbourhood during campaigning.
BNP accused the Jubo League and Chhatra League for the attack and claimed that at least 12 of its activists have been injured.

The CCC election is scheduled for January 27. A total of 236 aspirants are contesting the polls, including seven mayoral candidates.
A BNP-backed councilor candidate in Sirajganj was in fact killed moments after winning his election in the last phase of the municipal elections. Police have named his AL-backed rival, who remains absconding, as the main suspect in the case.
