The body of teenager Albert Jung, who went missing after a boat carrying four members of a family from New Zealand capsized off Cox's Bazar, was recovered on Wednesday, a day after the accident.
Locals spotted a body floating near the shore at Samiti Para in the afternoon and informed the police.
Police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue of Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital.
Albert was among four members of a New Zealand family who fell into the sea after their boat capsized in the Nazirartek-Sonadia estuary area on Tuesday morning amid strong waves.
His father Edward, mother Bella and 13-year-old brother Ralph were rescued by local fishermen and are currently in Coast Guard custody. They were later taken to hospital for treatment.
The Fire Service and Coast Guard launched a search operation for Albert on Tuesday night. Bangladesh Navy ship Shapla and a fast boat also joined the operation.
Sheikh Mohammad Ali, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Cox's Bazar Sadar Model Police Station, said all four family members had fallen into the water.
Although three were rescued, Albert remained missing until his body was recovered on Wednesday.
The family had been staying in Cox's Bazar for some time, police said.
An officer of the Detective Branch of Cox's Bazar District Police said the family was preparing to return to New Zealand as their visas were going to expire.
