Bogura-2 MP Jinnah gets anticipatory bail


The High Court (HC) on Monday granted anticipatory bail to Shariful Islam Jinnah, Jatiya Party lawmaker of Bogura-2 constituency, for three weeks in a graft case.

A virtual bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukdar and Justice Mohi Uddin Shamim passed the order.

The HC also asked the lawmaker to surrender before the court within this time frame.

The Jatiya Party lawmaker appealed for anticipatory bail on Sunday.

Advocate Sheikh Muhammad Sirajul Islam and Munshi Moniruzzaman stood for the bail petition while Deputy Attorney General Amin Uddin Manik represented the state.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case against the MP on February 2, on charge of accumulating illegal wealth worth Tk 1.59 crore and concealing wealth of Tk 89.29 lakh in his wealth statement.
