The government is determined to make the ongoing Boro procurement drive a success at any cost, Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder said on Thursday.
He also directed the concerned authorities to collect paddy from actual farmers.

“Paddy has to be procured from real farmers. We have to be careful in ensuring farmers who come to sell paddy are not harassed,” he said while addressing a virtual programme on progress review meeting of internal Boro procurement campaign 2021 at his office at the secretariat.
Emphasising on the fact that the country has bumper yields of Boro paddy, the minister urged officials of the food department to make the ongoing procurement campaign a success by achieving the target of collection within the stipulated time.

The target for this year's Boro season is to procure 10 lakh metric tonnes of boiled rice at Tk 40 per kg and 1 lakh tonnes of atap at a price of Tk 39 per kg.
