Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen called for a boycott of those who comment on Bangladesh’s ‘internal affairs’ and urged the media to play a role to ensure this.
He said this during a press conference held at the Sylhet Art Academy on Friday after attending an award ceremony.
“No country has spoken out about the recent panchayat elections in India’s West Bengal, which resulted in the deaths of 40 people. They become vocal when something happens in our country. Interference in a country's internal affairs is not aligned with the Geneva Convention,” he said.

He also criticized ambassadors who band together to pass comment on internal affairs in Bangladesh and said that such behaviour is not observed in any other part of the world.
“Foreigners enjoy talking about our country's internal affairs because Bangladeshi media over-publicize their comments. They believe themselves as the country's emperors,” he said.
