Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) on Monday formally started enforcing the Road Transport Act 2018 against traffic rules violators and fined around Tk 1.22 lakh conducting eight mobile courts in the city.
Besides, a total of 88 cases were also filed under the RTA by the mobile courts on the first day of their drive, said director (enforcement) of the BRTA AKM Masudur Rahman.
The new law RTA was supposed to be enforced from November 1 but it was delayed by two weeks for creating public awareness as well as for endorsement of mobile court Act, he said
“Finally we have started enforcement of the law from today (Monday) as the mobile court act was endorsed on Sunday,” said BRTA director (enforcement).
