The new budget is about Tk 122.79 crore more than the last year when the budget was Tk 479.94 crore, BSMMU Treasurer Dr Md Atiqur Rahman said at a press conference at the university, according to a press release.
The budget was approved in the BSMMU syndicate meeting chaired by Vice-Cancellor Dr Kanak Kanti Barua.
Of the amount, Tk 25 crore was allocated to tackle the Covid-19 crisis and the BSMMU sought allocation of Tk 76 crore from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to continue the medical service for next six months.
BSMMU has launched fever clinic on the ground floor of Betar Bhaban on June 21 where fever test, hotline, telemedicine, virtual outdoor, virtual specialist outdoor will be available.
The regular outdoor service and emergency service will be also available, the VC said.
Cabin blocks have been prepared for admission of coronavirus patients where central oxygen supply will be available, he added.
Meanwhile, health authorities on Monday said the number of confirmed coronavirus cases soared to 1,41,801 while 1,783 people have died since March 18 from COVID-19 in the country.
