The cabinet committee on law and order on Sunday recommended extension of the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays by one day from April 9 to ensure hassle-free journey of holidaymakers.
The recommendation of the cabinet committee will be placed at the Cabinet meeting on Monday, said the committee chairman and also Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq on Sunday.

Depending on the sighting of Shawwal moon, the Eid-ul-Fitr is scheduled to be celebrated on April 10 or April 11 and the Eid holiday will be on April 10, 11 and 12.
On April 7, the people of the country will enjoy a holiday for holy Shab-e-Qadr and offices will remain open on April 8 and 9.
The proposal regarding the Eid holiday extension will be placed to the government on Monday, he said adding another proposal was sent to keep offices open on April 6(Saturday) instead of April 9.”
Besides, the authorities concerned of banks have been asked to keep banks open in some industrial areas for payment of the salary of workers, said the minister.

Home minister will take steps in this regard after holding a meeting with the owners of factories so that the workers can get their wages, he said.
Meanwhile, warning will be given to stop movement of unfit vehicles to mitigate sufferings of people.
