A cargo ship carrying construction materials for Padma bridge from Chattogram port Tuesday sank at Hatiya after colliding with another sunken ship under water at the area.
The cargo ship named MV Hang Gang-1, wrecked in the Bay of Bengal, 10 nautical miles south of Bhasanchar at Hatiya, said Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA).

BIWTA Deputy Director Md. Selim said the cargo ship sank after colliding with another sunken ship. The crew of the ship got into a small fishing boat and saved their lives.
A ship named MV Fultala-1 sank on Saturday. A red buoy was given to avoid that place. But a ship called MV Hang Gang-1 carrying iron pipes for the Padma Bridge was passing by defying the signal, he further said.
