Chief Adviser’s Press Wing on Sunday condemned a recent report aired by Indian television channel Aaj Tak Bangla for spreading misinformation about a photo from Bangladesh Police Week celebrations falsely labeling it as a ‘secret image.’

The report, which aired recently, raised questions about a widely circulated photo showing Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus shaking hands with police officers and claimed that the uniform worn by police officers resembled that of a Pakistani generals.

The Press Wing said the photo was taken on April 29 at the Police Lines where 62 members of Bangladesh Police were awarded medals in recognition of their outstanding service.

The image features four senior officials- Additional Inspector Generals Khondker Rafiqul Islam, Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, Md. Shibghat Ullah, and Deputy Inspector General Kazi Md. Fazlul Karim—all of whom received the Bangladesh Police Medal for their commendable performances in their respective duties.

The image is not a ‘secret’photograph and it was officially distributed to the media by the Press Wing of the Chief Adviser following the medal-giving ceremony.

Besides, Aaj Tak Bangla report falsely alleged that foreign troops were conducting route marches inside Bangladesh which the Press Wing termed a false claim.

This is a part of orchestrated propaganda against Bangladesh and such actions are utterly disgraceful, it said.
