The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) on Thursday approved proposals to procure a total of 260,000 metric tonnes of urea, DAP and TSP fertilisers at a combined cost of around Tk 2,106 crore.
Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury presided over the meeting held at Secretariat.
Of the approved purchases, 150,000 tonnes will be urea, 80,000 tonnes DAP and 70,000 tonnes TSP fertiliser.
The committee approved the purchase of 30,000 tonnes of bagged granular urea from Karnaphuli Fertiliser Company Ltd (KAFCO), Bangladesh, as the third lot of the 2026-27 fiscal year.
The procurement will cost Tk 162.39 crore, with the price set at $438.125 per tonne, including FOB price of $433.125 and a bagging charge of $5.
The committee also approved the import of 40,000 tonnes of bulk granular urea from SABIC Agri-nutrients Company of Saudi Arabia as the sixth lot of the fiscal year at a cost of Tk 228.90 crore. The price is $463.17 per tonne.
Another 40,000 tonnes of bulk granular urea will be imported from Fertiglobe-UAE on a CFR basis as the first lot of the fiscal year at a cost of Tk 269.56 crore, with the price fixed at $545 per tonne.
The remaining six approved proposals involve imports of DAP and TSP fertilisers from Morocco’s OCP NUTRICROPS, S.A. under government-to-government agreements with the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC).
The sixth and seventh lots of DAP fertiliser, each involving 40,000 tonnes, will cost Tk 433.76 crore each, with a price of $877 per tonne.
The committee approved the eighth lot of TSP fertiliser, involving 30,000 tonnes, at a cost of Tk 247.67 crore. The price is $667.67 per tonne.
It also approved the ninth lot of TSP fertiliser, involving 40,000 tonnes, at a cost of Tk 330.23 crore at the same price of $667.67 per tonne.
