A delegation of the Election Commission (EC), led by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal, paid a courtesy call on Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique at the Supreme Court (SC) on Monday.
The delegation also included Election Commissioner Rasheda Sultana, EC Secretary Md Jahangir Alam and Joint Secretary Mahbubur Rahman at the meeting which lasted for around half an hour, beginning at 1:30 pm.

However, no officials from the SC administration were present at the closed door meeting.
After the meeting, the CEC told journalists, “The chief justice administered (my) oath. He (chief justice) will retire in the coming days, hence I came here to pay a courtesy call.”

Asked whether any other issue was discussed, the CEC expressed reluctance, saying that his office (EC) will talk about the rule being issued by the High Court on the election.
Upon his arrival, officials of the SC and HC welcomed the CEC at around 1:25 pm.
