People of Chuadanga may have to endure extreme heat rather than comfort during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.
Local weather office forecast that temperatures in the district are expected to range between 38 to 40 degrees Celsius during Eid, adding to the hardships of daily life, as a moderate heatwave has been sweeping through the region for the past few days.
On Sunday afternoon, the district recorded a temperature of 36.5 degrees Celsius, a fall by two degree than Saturday.
However, the district experienced 39.8 degrees Celsius temperature on Friday.
Chuadanga Meteorological Office reported that the ongoing heatwave is likely to persist through Eid, with peak temperatures occurring around midday. This could impact Eid prayers and outdoor celebrations.
Altaf Hossain, an observer at Chuadanga’s first-class weather station, confirmed that the district has been experiencing mild to moderate heatwaves since the last week of March.

He warned that the current trend may continue for the next few days, with the possibility of an intense heatwave.
Locals said discomfort during Eid shopping due to the excessive heat. Over the past two days, crowds in the city’s shopping centers and malls have been noticeably thinner than usual.
Chuadanga Sadar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Awliar Rahman advised residents, especially children and the elderly, to take extra precautions.
