A case has been filed against a clinic director for allegedly raping a schoolgirl in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat.
The victim’s mother filed the case with Kaliganj Police Station on Friday morning against Yusuf Ali, 45, son of the late Ashmat Ali of Kanchanshwar Kana Bazar area under Tushbhandar union.
Yusuf is the director of Rangpur New Rupsi Bangla Clinic.

According to the case statement and local residents, Yusuf became acquainted with the family of a garment worker after treating the family members at his clinic. The garment worker lives in Dhaka for work, while his wife and children stay at their home in the area.
On Thursday, the girl’s mother and aunt went to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital with another child of the family who had fallen ill. As a result, the schoolgirl was alone at home.
Police said Yusuf allegedly knew that the girl was alone. He went to the house around noon on the pretext of taking her mother’s phone number.
After entering the house, he allegedly shut the main gate and the room door, restrained the girl and raped her. When she tried to raise an alarm, he allegedly assaulted her and threatened to kill her.
The girl was later found injured and subsequently informed her mother about the incident over the phone after her condition worsened.
She was initially taken to Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex and later admitted to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital for treatment.
The girl’s mother, who filed the case, demanded the accused’s punishment.
She also alleged that her family was financially struggling and that she could not afford some of her daughter’s medical tests and medicines.
Officer-in-Charge Kaliganj Police Station Abu Siddique said the complaint had been registered as a regular case and police were conducting drives to arrest the accused.
