Members of Coast Guard (CG) rescued 13 fishermen from the Bay of Bengal two days after a fishing trawler carrying them broke down in the deep sea.
Lt. Commander Abdur Rahman, media officer of the CG headquarters, confirmed the development saying that the fishermen sailed for the sea from Chattogram’s Akmal Ali Ghat by ‘FV Raju’ fishing trawler to catch fishes on August 19.

The fishermen, who hail from Noakhali, were stranded in the sea when their trawler went out of order in the afternoon of the same day, he said.
They informed the CG when their mobile phones came under network, the officer said, adding that a patrolling vessel of the CG promptly conducted a drive in the sea to rescue.

It took much time to rescue the fishermen as the sea was turbulent and they were handed over to the authorities concerned after providing first aid and food, the CG officer added.
