The deceased was identified as Abul Kalam, 34, hailing from Banik Para of Bogura district. He was an assistant sub-inspector of Rajshahi district police.
Doctor Saiful Ferdous, deputy director of RMC, said that Kalam, who was diagnosed with coronavirus, was shifted to the hospital from Rajshahi Police Lines Hospital on June 24.
As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to Intentsive Care Unit (ICU). He died around 1pm.

Md Shahidullah, superintendent of Rajshahi Police, said that Kalam was a ASI of district police and was attached to the court area. He was tested corona positive on June 22.
Altogether 9,948 members of Bangladesh police were infected with Covid-19 across the country until Saturday morning.
Among the total cases, 5,855 policemen have made full recovery so far, said sources at the Police Headquarters.
