The deceased was identified as Constable Md Rafiqul Islam, 56, hailing from Ahmedpur village in Charfashion of Bhola. He was posted at the Bandar outpost of Naryanganj district.
“Constable Rafiqul breathed his last around 7pm,” said Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) of Police Headquarters (Media) Md Sohel Rana.

He was undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU) of Impulse Hospital, hired by Bangladesh Police for the treatment of COVID-19 infected police members, he added.
With the death of Rafiqul, 31 members of Bangladesh Police, including two civilian, died of Covid-19 so far.
Rafiqul joined police as a Constable in 1986. He performed duties at different police units for last 34 years.
He left behind his wife, two sons, one daughter and a host of relatives and admirers.
The body was sent to his village home for burial under management of police.
