The deceased was identified as Foysal Alam, hailing from Raninagar village in Godagari of Rajshahi and a constable atached to Naruli Police Outpost of Bogura Sadar.
Sonaton Chakraborty, additional superintendent (media) of Bogura Police, said Foysal was taken first to Bogura Police Hospital following chest pain around 1am.
As his condition deteriorated, he was shifted to the SZRMC hospital where he died around 2:45am.
After his death, his sample tested positive, said the official.
So far 8,496 policemen were infected with coronavirus across the country until Friday.
“Among the total infections, 2,050 policemen were attached to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) alone till the date,” said sources at the Police Headquarters.
Among them 4,811 policemen made recovery.
Meanwhile, 27 cops and one civilian member of the law enforcement agency died of Covid-19 till date, the sources added.
Bangladesh on Friday recorded 45 deaths from coronavirus in the span of 24 hours, raising the death toll to 1,388.
The number of total COVID-19 patients also surged to 105,537 to as the health authorities confirmed the detection of 3,243 new cases across the country during the same period.
