Bangladesh and other countries affected by climate change are not getting adequate funds due to complexities in the approval process, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said Thursday.
The minister came up with the remarks at a high-level segment at the Conference of Parties (COP25).
He said: “The inspiration that initiated the Green Climate Fund is not fulfilled and affected countries are not getting enough funds due to its complexity in process.”
The minister demanded cutting intricacies of the fund process as part of initiatives to bring back the essence of climate talks.
“Developed countries are spending millions in their defence sector but failing to provide money in the Green Climate Fund as per their promise,” Hasan Mahmud said.
Bangladesh got $ 90 million from the Greed Climate Fund, he said adding that Bangladesh is the first country to form an action plan to face the challenges of climate change.
