Besides, 18 more patients died from Covid-19 during the period, taking the fatalities to 5,923.
So far, 324I45 patients have recovered from the disease-- 1,442 in the last 24 hours.
The fatality rate in Bangladesh is 1.45 percent, the Directorate General of Health Services said.
Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8. The number of cases reached the 300,000-mark on August 26. The first death was reported on March 18 and the death toll exceeded 5,000 on Sept 22.
So far, 2,336,262 tests have been carried out, including 11,532 new tests, and 17.45 percent of them have turned out positive.
Bangladesh is seeing 2393.83 infections, 1903.30 recoveries and 34.78 deaths per million.
So far, 3,079 people have died in Dhaka division, 1,173 in Chattogram, 371 in Rajshahi, 470 in Khulna, 200 in Barishal, 246 in Sylhet, 262 in Rangpur and 122 in Mymensingh.
Global Situation
The global confirmed cases of Covid-19 exceeded 45 million on Saturday, according to the latest tally from Johns Hopkins University (JHU).
The data shows the Covid-19 cases reached 45,477,552 while 1,187,023 more fatalities recorded till this morning.
The United States total cases surpassed 9 million on Friday, the record high single-day total since the onset of the pandemic in the country. Total cases counted over 9,036, 678 as of Saturday.
It took only 14 days for the country to add one million new cases from 8 million to 9 million, the fastest rate since the pandemic began.
As the cases and deaths have skyrocketed across the United States in recent days, the country has recorded 88,521 news cases with 971 news deaths.
Besides, Brazil's COVID-19 cases surpassed 5,494,376, while its death toll rose to 158,969 after another 513 fatalities were reported, said JHU data.
Brazil registered 26,106 new cases in the last 24 hours, shows the data.
Brazil ranks second in the world in the number of deaths from the disease, only behind the United States, and third in the number of cases, after the United States and India.
In India, the country has reported 8,088,851 cases till Saturday morning while the total death toll from Covid-19 climbed to 121,090.
The country reported 48,648 new confirmed cases and 563 deaths on Friday.
Besides, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said “Governments should focus on tackling the virus and avoid politicization.”
He called on countries to keep investing in the health system and workforce, and improving testing, tracing and treatment of all cases.
