With the fresh ones, the death toll from the virus in the country reached 8,205 while the mortality rate stood at 1.52 percent, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in a handout.
It said the daily Covid-19 infection rate in the country is now 2.35 percent.
Meanwhile, the new cases pushed up the national tally to 538,062.

Until this morning, 483,372 patients (89.84 percent of the total reported cases) have recovered.
So far, 3,749,012 samples, including 12,404 during the past 24 hours, have been tested.
Bangladesh reported its first Coronavirus cases on March 8 and the first death on March 18 last year.
Global Covid-19 Situation
The global Covid-19 cases reached 105.7 million as of Sunday, according to Johns Hopkins University (JHU).
The total caseload reached 105,745,915 with 2,309,000 deaths, according to JHU tally.
Among the countries, the US remained the worst-hit with 26,914,925cases and 462,138 deaths.
Amid the rapid screening in US, the virus is killing more than 3,000 Americans per day.
The U.S. reports about 2 million tests per day, the vast majority of which are the slower, PCR variety. The initial tests developed to detect COVID-19 all used the cutting-edge technique, which quickly became the standard at U.S. hospitals and labs. It also became the benchmark for accuracy at the FDA, which has greenlighted more than 230 PCR tests but only about a dozen rapid tests, reports AP.
More than 100,000 people in the United States have died of COVID-19 since January 1 this year as the country are ramping up vaccine rollout, according to the data, reports Xinhua.

The United States has more COVID-19 deaths than any other country in the world. The country has recorded nearly 26.9 million cases with over 461,700 related deaths as of Saturday afternoon, according to the real-time count kept by JHU.
The national ensemble forecast of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) predicts that the number of newly reported COVID-19 deaths will likely decrease over the next 4 weeks, with 11,300 to 22,600 new deaths likely reported in the week ending Feb. 27.

During the last 24 hours, 11,713 fresh positive cases were reported in India while 14,488 new recoveries and 95 deaths were registered. The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country reached 10,814,304 and the death toll rose to 154,918.
India began the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive on Jan. 16, with healthcare and frontline workers being vaccinated currently.
Brazil has registered 9,447,165 cases with 230,034 fatalities.
Bangladesh kicks off nationwide vaccination drive
The government rolled out a countrywide mass Covid-19 vaccination drive on Sunday, aiming to end the pandemic.

Health Minister Zahid Maleque inaugurated the nationwide inoculation programme through a videoconference from the Health Directorate around 10:30 am.
The vaccine will be administered at 1,005 centers across the country.
Health Minister Zahid Maleque received the first shot of the vaccine at Sheikh Russel National Gastroliver Institute & Hospital in the morning.
While talking to journalists, the minister said, “The death toll from Covid-19 in India and the USA is higher than that of Bangladesh and we’re at the stage of corona phase-out according to the guidance of the World Health Organisation (WHO). Our infection rate is 3 percent. When a country’s infection rate goes below three percent, Covid starts phasing out from there.”
“Bloomberg has ranked Bangladesh as the 20th country in controlling coronavirus while it ranked first among South Asian countries. Besides, WHO has sent letters twice appreciating the role of the Prime Minister in this regard,” he said.
According to the DGHS, 50 booths have been set up in 50 hospitals in Dhaka while a total of 204 teams of health workers will administer the vaccine.
Besides, the minister said, vaccine shots have been provided to 955 hospitals in different parts of the country on the first day of mass inoculation drive and some 2,196 teams are working to make the drive a success.
