Two hotels in Sylhet city have been slapped with fines for hosting weddings with more than 100 guests in violation of coronavirus restrictions.
A mobile court led by Sylhet District Administration Executive Magistrate Md Mezbah Uddin fined Hiltown Hotel Tk1 lakh and Rainbow Guest House Tk50,000 on Friday. An individual, involved in arranging the wedding, was fined Tk10,000.

Mezbah said, "To tackle the worsening Covid-19 situation in the country, the government has imposed restrictions. However, the events at the hotels, where many people gathered, were in violation of the current Covid-19 regulations and should not have taken place."
