Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Saturday said that the construction of a rail line linking tourist hub Cox’s Bazar and inauguration of the oyster-shaped iconic rail station was beyond the expectation of the people of the country.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had promised to expand the rail line to Cox's Bazar. Today that promise has been fulfilled through running of rail service on the route,” he said.

The minister said this while expressing his reaction while travelling from Cox’s Bazar to Ramu by the train after inauguration of the 102-kilometre Chattogram-Cox's Bazar dual-gauge single railway line by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, lawmaker from Chittagong -1 constituency, was also on board.
People of the region never dreamed of such an 'iconic' railway station in Cox's Bazar, he said.

“I studied in Europe but there are very few such beautiful railway stations there,” the minister remarked.
“As an inhabitant of greater Chattogram, I invite everyone to come to Cox's Bazar by train,” Dr Hasan added.
